چکیده

The burden of Japanese encephalitis (JE) is still very high despite better vaccine coverage (Campbell et al., 2011). JE is now endemic in 24 Asian and Oceanian countries with an estimated 67,900 JE cases occurring annually (Campbell et al., 2011) with about 3 billion population is at risk. JE virus belong to the genus Flavivirus under the family Flaviviridae and is classified phylogenetically (Uchil, 2001; Li, 2011; Mohammed, 2011) into five genotypes (G1-G5) and the mode of JE virus dispersal study throughout the Asian countries using Bayesian Markov ISSN: 2319-7706 Volume 3 Number 1 (2014) pp. 160-166 http://www.ijcmas.com

Vaccination against Mosquito Borne Viral Infections: Current Status

Mosquito borne infectious diseases are among important group of diseases worldwide. Vaccination is available for some tropical mosquito-borne diseases, especially for Japa-nese encephalitis virus infection and yellow fever. There are also several attempts to develop new vaccines for the other mosquito-borne diseases such as malaria, dengue infection and West Nile virus infection. In this articl...

Host defence mechanisms against Japanese encephalitis virus infection in mice.

The role of antibody and cell-mediated immunity in the resistance to Japanese encephalitis virus (JEV) infection was studied in adult mice. Passively transferred antibodies obtained up to 2 weeks after primary infection protected the recipient mice against a challenge infection with JEV. Antibody obtained at 4 or 5 weeks failed to protect despite the presence of high titres of neutralizing anti...

Protection of adult but not newborn mice against lethal intracerebral challenge with Japanese encephalitis virus by adoptively transferred virus-specific cytotoxic T lymphocytes: requirement for L3T4+ T cells.

The protective ability of cytotoxic T cells (CTL) raised in vitro against Japanese encephalitis virus (JEV) was examined by adoptive transfer experiments. Adoptive transfer of anti-JEV effectors by intracerebral (i.c.) but not by intraperitoneal (i.p.) or intravenous (i.v.) routes protected adult BALB/c mice against lethal i.c. JEV challenge. In contrast to adult mice, adoptive transfer of anti...

Cross-protection between group B arboviruses: resistance in mice to Japanese B encephalitis and St. Louis encephalitis viruses induced by Dengue virus immunization.

Albino Swiss mice, immunized with any of several types and strains of dengue viruses, were afforded substantial protection against peripheral Japanese B encephalitis or St. Louis encephalitis virus challenge. Dengue-2 (New Guinea "C")-immunized mice showed, 10 and 20 weeks after immunization, undiminished resistance with concomitant cyclophosphamide treatment and virus challenge. Examination of...

Japanese Encephalitis Virus Replication and Inhibitory Effect of shRNA in Mice

Japanese Encephalitis Virus (JEV) is responsible for over 30,000 annual cases of encephalitis worldwide, causing 30% mortality. JEV is thus a continuing threat to public health, so development of new antiviral drugs against JEV is desirable. Here, we examined JEV replication in mouse and used a short hairpin RNA JRi as the antiviral agent. The features of virus replication in neuron and surviva...
